I think I am a lot like the author of the book in that I liked to tease my son when he was young. R. A. Ellis slso liked good nstured teasing of his kids, but he did it in a much more elsborate manner. It amounts to a combination of teasing along eith some imaginative tall tales thrown in for extra spice. I usually read books before falling asleep at night. My roaring with laughter for several minutes disrupts the bedtime ritual a bit. It is all good fun.It is hard to realize that this book was written by a well-known martial arts writer under a pen name.

Parents need a sense of humor to raise children and Mr. Ellis has just that. Now I know that my family is not the only one out there with a twisted sense of humor (and yes, your children will turn out just fine). I would definately recommend this book.
Glad to see I'm not the only terribly sarcastic parent out there! Quick read, really fun, 100% worth the money.
The first time, I read it in one sitting. I have read it several times since. I think every parent will appreciate the true stories contained in this highly enjoyable book.
Too many great ways to warp young minds in this. I don't think of this as much of a confessional as I do of a "How to" guide. I may just have a few years left in which I can employ a few strategic stories....
We had to put it down several times because we were laughing so had we might break it. These stories are hilarious. It inspired me to put a little more imagination into my daily interactions with my own kids. These are great.
Lots of short stories.
So far my favorite is "In the Dog Pound". The intro has a heartwarming description of what a dog is like. The story goes downhill from there and is Hilarious.

You have to go into this with the right frame of mind (or perhaps always be in the wrong one) but if you suspect you will think this is funny, then you will! Worth the read, and worth hanging onto so you can read it again when you start wondering "what was that thing he said to the baby when it was first born?"
